Rescue breathing barrier device included in NaloxBox units contains alcohol pads and gloves.
The mask provides a physical barrier to help rescuers overcome any hesitation to administer critically needed rescue breaths.
*Rescue breathing alone can sustain someone until emergency personnel arrive*
How to administer rescue breaths:
- First make sure there is nothing in the mouth/throat. Clear the throat before beginning rescue breathing
- Tilt the head to open the airway by lifting the neck or chin
- Pinch the nose shut
- Place the rescue breathing barrier over their mouth (make a seal over the mouth with your mouth).
- Give 2 quick breaths
- Then give 1 breath every 5 seconds until emergency personnel arrive or the person breathes on his/her own.
